Wooragee CFA $15,000 secures Grant for Quick Response Vehicle

The Beechworth and District Community Bank in conjunction with the Bendigo Bank Community Enterprise Foundation have secured a $15,000 challenge grant for the Wooragee CFA for the purchase of a Community Support Quick Attack Vehicle.

Beechworth & District Community BankWooragee CFA Captain, Mr John Ward said the addition of the slip on tanker vehicle would be a valuable asset to the region when responding to local and regional fire outbreaks. Mr Ward acknowledged the efforts of the Beechworth and District Community Bank and the local Board of Directors in providing the opportunity for the Wooragee community to acquire the vehicle. He said it is anticipated that the vehicle will be operational for the 2013 fire season and would be a CFA equipped Land Cruiser Cab Chassis.

 

Presenting the official grant confirmation was Beechworth Customer Service Office Melissa Rockliff who said “it’s very rewarding to be working for a locally owned business whose primary goal is to assist local community groups grow stronger for the benefit of all residents”.

 

Community Bank Treasurer, Lyn Clark said “these moments are what have motivated everyone involved in the establishment and running of our own local Community Bank since day 1. To have the opportunity to access funds at this level for our communities and to also see our business grow and return its own profits is very exciting”. Mrs Clark added that the Beechworth and District Community Bank and its Board of Directors are currently working towards hosting a grants information evening and variety of other strategies to assist local community groups.
